Cosplay of the day: Spider-Man and Venom: Web Designers
“Have we considered shooting them out of our wrists? That would optimize our SEO, maybe.”
Some Chinese guy made an Iron Man mask for his cat out of a grapefruit peel. My life will never be the same.
Marvel’s Guardian of the Galaxy movie is set for a 2014 release date, and until now there hasn’t been much casting news. Deadline is reporting that Joseph Gordon-Levitt could continue his superhero movie career by leading the cast of Guardians as Starlord Peter Quill.

The REAL “The Walking Dead” season 3 first trailer
Not that silly 31 second stuff.
Fan film of the day: “Static Shock: Blackout”
Shot on a student budget with limited resources (about $5,000), this fan film shows huge potential. Starring Stefan Dezil as Virgil Hawkins, aka Static, the film serves to honor the memory of Dwayne McDuffie who created the original DC Comics character.
Spring-Heeled Jack, the original Victorian Batman
The above illustration is from 1904, but legends of “Spring Heeled Jack” start around the 1860s:
“The story of Spring Heeled Jack begins rather innocently as a simple rumor starting in the south western area of London, early 19th century. Beginning in 1837, citizens began reporting sightings of a figure who could seem to leap across entire streets in one bound and over ten foot hedges with scary speed and precision. Dressed in black and often taking on demonic features, Spring Heeled Jack’s eyes glowed like red lasers and was often seen breathing blue flames through his nostrils and mouth”
Website of the day: X-Men with Googly Eyes
Because even X-Men comic book covers can be made more awesome with silly cartoon googly eyes.

Robot Chicken does Green Lantern
Robot Chicken got DC’s blessing to spoof Green Lantern, and the ensuing special will be called RC/DC. In this preview clip, Hal Jordan accidentally uses his hands and in order to retain his status as a Green Lantern, he’s going to have to put the ring… somewhere else.
The Green Lantern special will be on Adult Swim next summer.
Batman “Killing Joke” story done in 13 minutes with shadow puppets
I love the art of shadow puppetry for its simplicity and beauty, but most of the places in the world where people do shadow puppetry, the stories are local folk tales. This one, done by Oscar Andres Rodriguez is based on the classic Batman tale “The Killing Joke”, which at this point, is sort of a modern pop culture comic book folk tale.
Jeff Matsuda was the creative director of Batman: The Animated Series, and as his IAMA verification, he posted the above photo of his Emmy for his work on the series. He asked Redditors to request anything Batman-related and he’d sketch it, and boy his sketching hand must have been tired. Lots below, you can see the whole thread here.
